Sister Act

Nikki Morgan arrived at WITT after 20 years working in Australia knowing she would see a familiar face.

Like Nikki, her sister Lisa Carruthers is a beauty therapy tutor in the Beauty and Makeup team at WITT’s New Plymouth campus.

Nikki spent her first 17 years in Taranaki before heading south to Wellington.

She has returned via Melbourne after “learning and growing in the beauty industry” and is teaching Beauty Therapy Level 4 to Year 1 students.

She moved to Taranaki to spend time with family, “enjoy raising our kids here and to have a change of pace”.

Nikki’s beauty journey began in Wellington and it took her to Australia in 1998. The following year she was a junior therapist in Melbourne.

She has owned her own business, worked as a salon manager, worked in mobile beauty, sub-contracted and trained staff and work colleagues.

Nikki is qualified in all aspects of the beauty, including eyelash “Xtensions”, hot stone cupping, hot stone massage, gel shellac nails, cosmetic tattooing and Reiki healing.

“I am so thankful to be here working at WITT. My first week was amazing and I am looking forward to helping my students gain qualifications,” she said.

“My sister and I have a great strong bond and I saw the [WITT] ad on Seek and applied. I was offered the job, and was so happy… we couldn’t believe we would be working together, it was such great news.”
