Agriculture is a major player in the Taranaki region and the course content includes elements of sheep and beef farming, biodiversity as well as dairy farming. Elements of farm safety and general good farm practices will complete this course.
Keen to get outdoors, build practical skills, and contribute to looking after
the environment? This hands-on course introduces you to the world of
conservation work. You'll learn how to safely use a chainsaw, plant native
trees, and follow essential health and safety procedures in the field.
You'll also explore the links between forestry and conservation, preparing
you for future pathways in land management, environmental operations, or
primary industries.
Leads to New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations (Rural) (Level 3)
In any workplace you need to be able to operate safely. You will learn
general health and safety as well as tractor safety, and cover topics such as
quad bike, two wheelers, water systems, tractor implements and wooden,
wire and electric fencing and repair. This programme provides hands-on
learning to help you on the farm.
