Agriculture Animal Behaviour

Gain an understanding of the different types of farming in New Zealand, seasonal activities, fodder conservation,
livestock behaviour and the responsibilities of people on farmland.

Conservation Plant Control

Discover how invasive plant species threaten our native ecosystems—and what you can do to help. This hands-on
conservation course gives you the skills and knowledge to identify pest plants, understand their impacts on native
biodiversity and local economies and evaluate different control methods.

Trades Academy


Agriculture (Level 2)

Agriculture is a major player in the Taranaki region and the course content includes elements of sheep and beef farming, biodiversity as well as dairy farming. Elements of farm safety and general good farm practices will complete this course.


Conservation Skills (Supporting Native Plant Environments) (Level 2)

Keen to get outdoors, build practical skills, and contribute to looking after
the environment? This hands-on course introduces you to the world of
conservation work. You'll learn how to safely use a chainsaw, plant native
trees, and follow essential health and safety procedures in the field.
You'll also explore the links between forestry and conservation, preparing
you for future pathways in land management, environmental operations, or
primary industries.


Leads to New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations (Rural) (Level 3)


New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Operational Skills (Level 3)

In any workplace you need to be able to operate safely. You will learn
general health and safety as well as tractor safety, and cover topics such as
quad bike, two wheelers, water systems, tractor implements and wooden,
wire and electric fencing and repair. This programme provides hands-on
learning to help you on the farm.
