Arrive early so you can find a park and locate your classroom.
What to bring
Bring pen, paper, something warm to wear (the weather can be variable), your water bottle and some lunch. Te Kauta, cafeteria on campus serves coffees and hot and cold foods.
Pōwhiri
On your first day, you will be welcomed with a pōwhiri.
If pōwhiri is new to you, don't worry. Your tutor will guide you through the process.
Semester One start pōwhiri (23rd February 2026)
If your first class is the morning of Monday 23rd February, attend your timetabled class time and from there you will participate in one of the two pōwhiri with your tutor and classmates. After your pōwhiri you will return to class where you will continue to undertake activities to set you up for a successful start to your studies.
If your first class on campus is not Monday 23rd February, you are welcome to attend the 9.30am or the 10.30am pōwhiri.

Getting your student ID card
Your class will be timetabled in your first week on campus to get your student ID card. Or if you are not studying on campus, or want your ID card sooner, email a passport style photo to idcards@witt.ac.nz with your legal surname, your preferred name and your student ID number. You can either collect this from the library (1st Floor of B Block) or we will mail it to you.
Your student handbook
A downloadable PDF version of the student handbook can be found here.
