Certificate of Proficiency - Painting (Level 6)

Exciting opportunity with Dr Elliot Collins

Study contemporary painting with Dr Elliot Collins, award-winning artist and Senior Academic here at WITT. The course DAD6.107 Painting 2 involves using investigative tools, methods and technologies relating to painting, including the critical analysis of research findings to support the development of ideas. Students learn about managing projects and developing the their professional practice as they engage with exploration of materials, personal projects, and abstraction in watercolour, oils, and acrylics.

Certificate of Proficiency

This course is an integral part of the Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 6) and includes formal assessment. Successful completion will contribute credits toward the Diploma qualification. In recognition of your achievement, you will also be awarded a Certificate of Proficiency for this course.

On-Campus Attendance

For 17 weeks starting on Thursday 17 July you’ll join the Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 6) students on campus.  Classes run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and offer a great opportunity to collaborate, create, and learn in a dynamic studio environment

Entry Requirements

Students who have already completed the New Zealand Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5) or similar level 5 qualification can enrol directly into this Level 6 course.  New students are encouraged to contact the tutor Dr Elliot Collins or the team from the Art Department to discuss their background, suitability, and any prerequisite knowledge. 

We also welcome mature students and those wishing to study part-time.

Programme Specific Information

This course engages the student in the exploration and extension of paint based media. Projects are designed to extend the students’ knowledge and application of contemporary practice, critical thinking and development of personal concepts.
