Bakery

The STAR Bakery course will give students an overview and introduction to baking goods in a commercial environment. Students will be equipped with health and safety skills and will know what they need to do to pursue a career in chef training/baking.

Beauty Therapy

The course is designed to give students an introduction to beauty treatments such as mini facials, nail file and paint, hand massage and eyebrow grooming. Students will also learn personal presentation while gaining elementary skills.

Cookery

Our STAR Introduction to Cookery Programme is designed for students who are interested in hospitality and cookery as a career path. This programme gives an insight into what is needed to become a chef, and will give students a feel for working in a commercial kitchen.

Hair, Beauty and Makeup

The course is designed to give students an introduction into how to perform a manicure, learn basic makeup application techniques and style long hair using heated tools. Students will also learn personal presentation while gaining elementary skills.

Hairdressing

The Hairdressing course is designed to give students an introduction to the hairdressing industry. Students will learn personal presentation and gain elementary skills.

Hospitality - Barista

This course is designed to give students an introduction to the hospitality industry by giving them the opportunities to learn how to use commercial espresso coffee equipment and prepare espresso beverages. They will also learn how to prepare and present espresso beverages for service.

Hospitality - Front of House*

This course covers a basic understanding of hospitality terminology, equipment, personal presentation, preparation and clearing of areas for table service in a commercial establishment.

Make-Up Artistry 

This course is designed to give students an introduction to the make-up industry, learning basic makeup application as well as exploring their creative side; applying bold on-trend techniques.

Sport & Fitness

Start learning skills for a career in sport and fitness. Gain knowledge about exercise equipment and the professional gym environment.

Trades Academy

Beauty & Make Up Artistry (Level 2)

Learn to perform cosmetic services and facial treatments while recognising different facial skin types. Unpack current fashion trends related to beauty therapy and apply makeup techniques suitable for different occasions.


Cookery (Level 2)

Learn to prepare and cook delicious meals through a variety of methods from steaming, to poaching, frying and roasting in our full scale commercial kitchens.


Hairdressing (Level 2)

Learn how to perform a shampoo, treatment and scalp massage while gaining knowledge of work place requirements and personal presentation. Create different hairstyles using heated tools and increase knowledge of different hair products.


Restaurant Service (Level 2)

Learn how to prepare hot and cold beverages, elements of contamination hazards, service delivery, table service and menu types.


Sport & Fitness (Level 2)

Learn how the body works, through understanding basic anatomy concepts and applying these principles to real life movements. Utilise gym equipment and stretching techniques to practice your skills.

New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 3)

Learn to apply health and safety procedures, and fundamental skills to prepare, cook and present a range of basic dishes using wet and dry cooking methods in our fully-equipped kitchens.


New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3)

Learn essential front of house skills from the art of coffee making to bar and restaurant service. By working in a real restaurant and café students gain practical knowledge preparing them for industry or further studies.


New Zealand Certificate in Makeup & Skincare (Introduction) (Level 3)

Perform a full manicure and pedicure including masks and hand massage. Apply skincare services while learning different skin types, conditions and functions of the skin. Apply makeup for different occasions, assist with sales and promotional activities and gain employment in the beauty sector.


New Zealand Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Level 3)

Gain the knowledge and skills needed to operate under direct supervision in support roles within and/or across the sport, recreation and exercise industries. Graduates will be able to operate within a framework of health and wellness in relation to individuals, groups and community needs.
