Whether you are building on a Level 6 diploma qualification and completing the final year of a degree (Level 7) or plan to pathway into a degree you can compete the one-year Level 7 Design and Arts programme in Taranaki.
Develop and refine your art and design talent guided by our highly respected tutors, who are active in New Zealand’s art scene. Complement your practical studio learning with professional practice, research and an invaluable internship.
This Design and Art degree features independent work focused on your specialist area and relevant work experience. Learning will be studio-based at WITT with some collaborative blended learning with creative industries kaimahi and ākonga from UCOL Whanganui.
Entry Requirements
- A Level 6 Arts and or Design qualification; or
- Equivalent knowledge, skill, work experience, or study
Interviews will take place as part of the application.
It’s common for our kaiako (tutors) to be actively involved with local industry and in the case of our Arts and Design kaimahi (staff) it’s also common for them to be exhibiting artists.

Additional expenses
Closer to the programme starting, learners will receive a list of course materials to purchase. Examples of course materials could include textbooks, stationary, printing; uniforms, personal protective equipment, tools and a laptop.
