New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3)

With New Zealand gearing up to become predator-free by 2050, landowners are facing a massive shortage of trained pest control operators and this programme will gear you up with the base skills and tools to get you started

You’ll learn trapping and poisoning techniques for controlling rats, rabbits, stoats and ferrets – some of our most destructive animal pests, as well as methods for controlling pest plants. With a mix of theory and hands-on learning, you’ll also cover topics such as animal physiology.

Entry Requirements

  • Open entry.
  • Students are required to hold a current restricted drivers licence. 

Changes for 2023 learners

On 1 November 2022, WITT and the programme you have enrolled in became part of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology .
When you apply to study with WITT in 2023, you will be enrolled with Te Pūkenga, the new national network of vocational and applied education in Aotearoa New Zealand. You will learn in the same way, in the same place, and with the same people.
