Best practice guidelines for investigation and design of pavements will be introduced at the beginning of the workshop to familiarise the attendees on the required geotechnical investigations for pavement design purposes. Prediction of pavement deflection and curvature will be covered in details in the workshop with examples using the design and analysis program Circly to meet Auckland Transport EPA requirements and NZTA requirements.
Mechanistic pavement design will be introduced with applications using latest version of Circly program. Design will cover flexible (structural asphalt and granular pavement with stabilisation) and rigid (concrete) pavement for roads, intersections, widening and subdivisions
Please note: the design examples will be presented on the screen by the presenter in an interactive way with attendees.
Who should attend?
Contractors, Consultants, Councils, NZTA and Land Developers staff involved in roads, industrial development, pavement investigation, design and construction.
Topics Include:
- Practical design applications using Circly program
- Best practice guidelines for pavement investigation and testing
- Pavement analysis using FWD back-calculation and Circly
- Mechanistic- Empirical pavement design and treatment options
- Calculation of design deflection and curvature to meet Auckland Transport EPA technical requirements
- Introduction of Circly 6 latest 2020 version with multiple design examples
- Selection of pavement layers moduli for structural asphalt mixes and other pavement layers
On completion participants will have the knowledge to:
- Design pavements using Circly program
- Specify right pavement geotechnical investigations prior to design
- Design ESA Calculations for various loading
- Select the correct material Moduli to be used for pavement design for structural asphalt and the other pavement layers
- Calculate pavement deflection and curvature
- Field testing requirements
