Qualification overview

In the Taranaki Trades Academy students come to WITT at least one day a week over several terms and gain NCEA credits. The learning takes place in a practical and hands-on environment using industry standard equipment and technology relevant to your chosen career path. Students develop the foundation skills needed to progress to further study opportunities or move directly into employment.

DESIGNED FOR: Secondary school students studying towards NCEA Level 1 or 2. Students should have a genuine interest in a particular vocational pathway.

WHAT'S NEXT? 3+2 or full-time tertiary study.

Entry requirements

  • Be enrolled in a Taranaki secondary school; and be in Year 11, 12 or 13
  • Working towards or have completed at least 60 credits at NCEA Level 1
  • Have a genuine interest in one of the above career areas
  • Gain approval from school and parents/guardians
  • Attend an interview and create a personal education plan
  • Be motivated to succeed!
