Young professionals cook up a storm

Published on

More than 30 budding cooks joined our very own Chef Angela Ferguson in our kitchens this week for a special event with Taranaki Young Professionals (TYP).

The keen masterchefs were on campus for a private cooking class hosted by WITT as part of the TYP event calendar.

It’s the first of a handful of co-hosted events planned to take place in 2021.

The evening’s students, most of whom were Taranaki Young Professionals members, learned to make homemade ricotta gnocchi from scratch with a burnt butter and sage sauce. They worked in pairs to produce an impressive plated dish, which they enjoyed with a glass of wine at the end of the night.

“Learning new skills while having fun was the name of the game. The event was so popular that it sold out in just a couple of days,” Angela said.

“There was such a great energy in the kitchen and feedback has been very positive so far. We had a number of people asking us to schedule another cooking class event before they’d finished up for the night.”

WITT has been the platinum sponsor of Taranaki Young Professionals since 2019. Taranaki Young Professionals is our region’s organisation for professionals who are in the first fifteen years of their career, looking to connect with likeminded people, further their knowledge and have some fun.
