WITT Celebrates Graduates

Published on

WITT Te Pūkenga proudly acknowledges the 'Class of 2024' at a graduation ceremony at TSB Stadium on Thursday 15 February 2024.

A total of 898 graduates have completed their respective programmes this year, with 265 people registered to attend the graduation event.

In a first, there is a group of 11 ākonga (students) graduating from the New Zealand Certificate in Conservation Operations (Level 4). The largest cohort of graduates at the event are from the Nursing, Health and Wellness School with 57 people graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing.

Speakers at the event include keynote speaker Paul Rangiwahia (Ngāti Ruanui, Taranaki Iwi) and student representative Tia Pauro, who is graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing.

Graduating ākonga also have the opportunity to parade through the CBD in their formal academic regalia before the ceremony at TSB Stadium.

Recognising the dedication and hard work of kaimahi (staff), ākonga and whānau, graduation serves as a significant milestone to acknowledge and celebrate their collective accomplishments.

This year's celebration marks a departure from last year's combined ceremony for the 2022 and 2023 graduates, necessitated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the February 2022 graduation event, which unfortunately had to be cancelled.
