Business at WITT: Building Skills for Any Industry
Studying business is less about training for a specific job and more about developing transferable skills that apply across industries. With business constantly evolving, students are equipped with capabilities such as communication, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and problem-solving—skills that add value in any workplace.
Graduates go on to work across a wide range of sectors including hospitality, healthcare, and aged care, both in New Zealand and internationally. Many apply their learning directly in part-time roles while studying, gaining valuable experience alongside their qualifications.
NZ Diploma in Business (Level 5)
The diploma provides a strong foundation in key business areas, including:
Students can then specialise in either Accounting or Leadership and Management, or progress into further study.
Bachelor of Applied Management (Level 7)
Students can enrol directly into the Bachelor of Applied Management, or begin with the diploma and progress to complete the degree with a further two years of study. WITT’s smaller class sizes allow for personalised support and a flexible learning environment. Students can choose a general pathway or specialisation, Project Management.
The degree includes a capstone project, where students undertake workplace-based research, often using their current job, applying their skills in a real business context. Graduates frequently use this project to support career progression or secure new opportunities, demonstrating strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
