What to expect on Graduation Day
To help you prepare for graduation, here is a general timeline of what you can expect on the day of your ceremony.
Arrival
Please arrive early to allow enough time for parking, registration, and finding your seat. Graduands are required to check in first and receive final instructions.
Registration & preparation
Graduands must sign in on arrival. This is where you will confirm your attendance so that we will call you onto stage, collect any required information, and be guided to the robing area if you are wearing academic dress.
Morning ceremony sign in: Opens at 9.00am and closes at 9.45am
Afternoon ceremony sign in: Opens at 1.30pm and closes at 2.15pm
Robing / final preparation
If you are wearing academic regalia, you will change into your gown and prepare for the ceremony. Staff and volunteers will be available to assist and guide you as needed.
Seating of guests
Guests will be invited into the venue and seated prior to the start of the ceremony. We kindly ask guests to be seated promptly so the ceremony can begin on time.
Ceremony begins
The ceremony will formally open with welcome acknowledgements, including recognition of Taranaki Maunga and Te Ātiawa as mana whenua, along with the iwi of Taranaki.
Graduands procession
Graduands will be led into the venue and seated in preparation for the conferral of qualifications.
Conferral of qualifications
Graduands will be called across the stage one by one to receive recognition of their achievement. This is the central moment of the ceremony and will be professionally recorded and photographed.
Ceremony conclusion
The ceremony will conclude with final acknowledgements and a formal closing.
After the ceremony
Guests are invited to meet their graduates outside the venue to offer congratulations and take photographs. Please note that no refreshments are provided on site.
Regalia return
Return all regalia to TSB Showplace by 3pm, 12 February.
