Year 13 Scholarships launched

Finishing high school and starting the next chapter of your life is an exciting time. Students in the Taranaki region have an extra reason to be excited about their futures, after WITT launched its brand new Year 13 Scholarships this month.

Launched on 1 September, WITT’s offering a limited number of Year 13 Scholarships which will cover the first year of tuition fees up to the value of $7,000. These Scholarships are for students who are currently at school and planning to start their study in 2020.

WITT chief executive John Snook said introducing the Year 13 Scholarships will be a positive initiative for students, WITT and for Taranaki.

“We’re excited to be offering Year 13 Scholarships for the first time. I’m looking forward to seeing more of our talented young people staying in the region and completing their studies; furthering their careers. There are a lot of opportunities here.

“These scholarships reflect WITT's strong connection and commitment to the schools and communities of Taranaki.”

For students who already qualify for the government fees-free initiative in their first year, the Scholarship will cover their second year of study.

“The possibility of two years of free study toward a degree or diploma is a great deal,” Mr Snook said. “It’s something that is really worth considering if you are finishing school this year and looking at your options. You don’t have to leave home to get a degree.”

WITT is offering Year 13 Scholarships for the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Applied Management and Bachelor of Engineering Technology, as well as the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (both the Civil and Mechanical streams).

“We’ve had a great response in the first few days since applications opened, so we’re expecting these scholarships to be very popular,” Mr Snook said.

Applications for Year 13 Scholarships close at 9:00am on Monday 21 October. Find out more or apply here.
