DAD5.004 The Body 1 is part of the Diploma of Arts and Design (Level 5), and is presented at WITT by Senior Lecturer and artist, Ged Guy. Projects involve three-dimensional clay work, wire work, life drawing, and guidance on developing a final project focused on representing the body.

Exciting opportunity with Dr Elliot Collins

Study contemporary painting with Dr Elliot Collins, award-winning artist and Senior Academic here at WITT. The course DAD6.107 Painting 2 involves using investigative tools, methods and technologies relating to painting, including the critical analysis of research findings to support the development of ideas. Students learn about managing projects and developing the their professional practice as they engage with exploration of materials, personal projects, and abstraction in watercolour, oils, and acrylics.

One day workshop

Design an abstract composition, mix colour, and work with acrylic painting techniques to create your own abstracted painting. We will work through the process right from the basics of planning your design, focusing on visual elements, as well as different ways of simplifying and abstracting your image.

Woodblock T-Shirt printing

One day workshop

Suitable for beginners and those wishing to learn the process of wood block printing, this short course will teach students how to design and plan an image, carve a wood block and print onto a t-shirt using a printing press. Some pre-carved blocks will be available for those who want them. Wear your art home! Two shirt will be provided to each participants, but bringing extras from home is highly encouraged.

Suitable for beginners and those wishing to explore new digital techniques alike, this short course will teach students how to work with Photoshop right from the basics as we create an unreal image. We will learn about compositing techniques such as selections, layers, clear-cutting, transformations, changing colours, and printing our final image. You will take home a print of the image you have built.
