Qualification overview

This entry-level certificate provides the skills and knowledge to design and deliver exercise programmes within a framework of health and wellness. The programme focuses on providing individual and community needs to enhance the cultural, social and economic wellbeing of the people of Aotearoa New Zealand. Recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS), this certificate is a practically based programme that potentially leads to employment in the sport and exercise industry. Graduates will be eligible to register with REPS.

On-campus option

This programme is delivered over 15 weeks full time on-campus and includes 20 hours of practical work experience.

    

Online option

This programme is delivered over 20 weeks through a combination of online learning and 220 hours of practical work experience gained in an approved facility.

ALL APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO:
• Sign a declaration and a request for personal information held on the Police computer.
• Sign a declaration that they are in good health (having no medical, physical or psychological conditions that would preclude working with vulnerable clients).

Graduates can be employed or self employed in exciting roles such as: exercise consultant, community exercise instructor, team training instructor or personal trainer
