WITT is a great place to work!  On this page, you will see a snapshot of our recent Engagement and Climate Survey results.  We have, over the past three years, improved our Engagement Index score to 75.96% (for comparison, the State Sector score is 69%).  Everyone in the WITT team is committed to year on year improvements in communication, engagement, and outcomes for our learners and our community.

Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Tutors – Expressions of Interest

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

We are looking to recruit contract workplace tutors to provide high quality literacy and numeracy training to companies within the Taranaki region.  The training will take place at the workplace and will build core communication, numeracy and foundation level skills, which will build confidence in our learners and enable them to succeed at work.

The role commences in February 2019.  You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Assessing learner level through the use of the TEC On-line Literacy and Assessment Tool
  • Designing and delivering workplace-based engaging training sessions with clear learning outcomes
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with appropriate personnel to create student success. 

We are looking for people who:

  • are passionate about working with adults to achieve workplace literacy and numeracy (communication) goals
  • have empathy and warmth, intercultural skills, and a strong knowledge of New Zealand cultures
  • have confidence in engaging and working with Maori and Pasifika models of learning
  • are self-motivated and able to work remotely, as well as interact with the learners and employers to deliver an effective training programme
  • are able to deliver weekly reports, maintain attendance records and compile administrative tasks as required
  • hold an adult teaching qualification such as NCALNE
  • are confident in delivering digital literacy and financial literacy content
