Secondary Tertiary Pathways (STP) Manager - Expression of Interest

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

We are looking for expressions of interest for those who would like to be part of our Secondary Tertiary Pathways (STP) team that provides alternative pathways for young people to gain skills and qualifications while still at school.  You would be leading a small but busy team who have interactions with all areas of WITT.  

You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You would need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies while leading and growing the STP area.

Key tasks for this role include

  • Schools liaison management including promoting tertiary pathways within the schools and ensuring that there is a co-ordinated approach between school staff and WITT staff;
  • Promoting WITT as a tertiary provider of choice;
  • Vocational pathway management including evaluating and assessing the need for new or adapted WITT programmes in the STP space;
  • Youth transition into tertiary study including identifying key youth transition challenges in the Taranaki region;
  • Ensure all requests for funding and required reporting are completed in a timely manner

We are looking for someone who

  • is a highly effective communicator and who is able to support, manage and exceed customer expectations
  • enjoys working with a range of people
  • works well within a team environment
  • has good organisational and time management skills, event planning and coordination, excellent personal, communication and problem-solving skills
  • has established networks within the community
  • is able to produce accurate and clear documents within specific timeframes.

It is desirable that you would have

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Business awareness
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data

Academic Staff Member/Tutor – Fitting and Machining

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

Due to increased course offerings we are looking for applications for those who would like to be involved in the teaching of mechanical engineering at WITT.  The role is part of our busy and growing Trades team.  You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You would need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies.

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Academic teaching and assessment for courses indicated
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across WITT to create student success. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds at least a trade qualification in Fitting and Machining at Level 4 (or equivalent)
  • Has at least five years Fitting and Machining experience as a qualified tradesperson
  • Can work with a high level of autonomy
  • Is able to establish and maintain effective relationship with a range of people.

Teaching qualifications and/or experience is an advantage but not essential.
