WITT is a great place to work!  On this page, you will see a snapshot of our recent Engagement and Climate Survey results.  We have, over the past three years, improved our Engagement Index score to 75.96% (for comparison, the State Sector score is 69%).  Everyone in the WITT team is committed to year on year improvements in communication, engagement, and outcomes for our learners and our community.

The filling of all staff vacancies is consistent with our hiring policy (link here) (note this is currently under review but much of the information will remain unchanged), and every member of the team goes through the process of interviews, references and police checks.  In this way, we have the time to ensure that you are a fit for us, and we are a fit for you. Expressions of Interest - Business Educators

The department of Commerce & Computing is moving to a tri-semester system from July 2019. Consequently the department needs extra staff to teach on its Bachelor of Applied Management and New Zealand Diploma in Business programmes of study.

We are interested to hear from person(s) who have a background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Accounting & Finance,
  • Strategic and Operational Leadership and Management,
  • Marketing & Economics.

You will need to hold a Masters or Post Graduate qualification relating to the above. Ideally you will also have experience in a teaching and learning environment (although staff development provisions are available to help with this).

Expressions of Interest: Tutors for NZDE Mechanical and Civil Engineering

WITT is a tertiary education organisation which prides itself on its quality learning environment. We are seeking people to join our team to assist in building bright futures for our students.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest for full-time teaching on the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering.

Key tasks for these roles include

  • Carrying out academic teaching and hands on lab demonstration role for Mechanical and Civil Engineering courses
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Participating in quality control programmes and contributing to the development of new programmes of study
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across the various departments to create student success
  • Recognising Maori and Pasifika learners’ needs and knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Recognising international students’ needs and respect cultural diversities.

You will need

  • Excellent hands on Engineering design experience in AUTOCAD Civil and AUTODESK INVENTOR software and other Civil engineering software
  • Strong demonstrated hands on practical experience
  • At least five years’ experience in relevant teaching at Tertiary level or equivalent industrial experience
  • A minimum of Bachelor degree in relevant Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • Current ENZ membership or any other equivalent recognised professional memberships
  • Preferably a National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational/Workplace) Level 4 and above or working towards

Academic Staff Member (Civil Engineering)

The New Zealand Institute of Highway Technology (NZIHT) established in 1992 is a training organisation that delivers across New Zealand and off shore, offering formal block course qualifications from certificate to graduate diploma level and a diverse tailored range of short courses for the engineering, roading, construction and civil industries. 

We are looking for a full time Academic Staff member with 2 years minimum relevant industry experience in the Civil Engineering sector to join and be part of the NZIHT team at our Hamilton Campus.  

The position is diverse; fast paced and requires travel across New Zealand delivering courses from the Diploma in Civil Engineering and the Graduate Diploma in Highways.  You will need to be adaptable, and hold qualifications in Civil Engineering.

The position is responsible for teaching and learning and to ensure all quality academic requirements are met. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in Highways, Geotechnical Engineering, Site Investigations or similar fields.  This will be complimented with a sound understanding of construction methodologies and issues.

Clinical Placement Coordinator - Nursing

WITT is a tertiary education organisation which prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments. The nursing team at WITT is a stable team with a passion for nursing and education.   

The School of Nursing at WITT is looking to recruit a full time Clinical Placement Coordinator for our very successful Nursing Team, which is part of our wider Health and Wellness team. Applicants will need to be a registered nurse.

We are looking for someone who;

  • Is a registered nurse
  • Has at least five years’ work experience,
  • Is able to develop excellent relationships with external parties
  • Is able to plan clinical learning and simulation sessions for students,
  • Holds a Masters or post graduate qualification in a related area to nursing or education; or be prepared to work towards a Masters Qualification
  • Is able to develop excellent relationships with external parties
  • Enjoys working with nursing students.

It is desirable that you would;

  • have experience in a teaching and learning environment and have demonstrated an innovative approach to delivery
  • be actively engaged or have an interest in research
  • Have had planning and strategic experience.

Witt is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student’s success and quality learning environments. The Department of Commerce & Computing is looking to offer a Graduate Diploma in Business Information Systems qualification for its July intake.

The department is looking for expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons for teaching staff positions on the new programme. The person(s) we are looking for need:

Expressions of Interest - Teachers for English Language – New Plymouth and China

WITT is a tertiary education organisation, which prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced English Teachers to teach, for WITT, in New Plymouth and China.  These are fixed term positions.  The successful applicant would be delivering English Language courses that range in terms from short, medium and long term.

We welcome applications from teachers who are resilient, positive, and passionate about teaching students of different cultures, where English is not the first language.  You would need to be able to encourage and motivate students, able to adapt to change and develop excellent relationships with other teachers, administration and students.

The successful appliance must be TESOL qualified.   

It is desirable that you would:

  • Have a bachelors degree in English/Linguistics/literature or similar and TESOL/CELTA/TEFL/DELTA
  • Have serval years’ experience teaching General English to students will low English levels
  • Use a student-centred approach to learning
  • Ideally have experience of teaching in China with young adult learners

Industry Placement & Employment Coordinator

WITT is a tertiary education organisation based the in the beautiful Taranaki Region.  We pride ourselves on our student success and quality learning environments. We are a looking for an experienced Industry Placement and Employment Coordinator to join our friendly team.

The role is a permanent full-time role and sits within our Business Development area.  You will be part of a busy, energetic, engaging and professional team.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to develop and enhance relationships that can benefit our students. 

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Identify, develop, and coordinate industry placement for students
  • Ensure that placements are the correct requirements for courses
  • Coordinate international competitions for WITT students
  • Coordinate student exchange programme
  • Build and enhance existing relations with stakeholders and employers

We are looking for someone who:

  • A business degree or start up experience
  • Strong professional connections
  • Ability to secure employment opportunities for students
  • Languages would be an advantage but not required – Te Reo, Mandarin and/or Hindi
  • Excellent organisation and coordination skills
  • Competent with using technology and databases
  • Able to work well with others
  • Outstanding communication skills both oral and written
  • Have attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills, particularly in relation to planning, time management, record keeping, administration and meeting deadlines

Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Tutors – Expressions of Interest

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

We are looking to recruit contract workplace tutors to provide high quality literacy and numeracy training to companies within the Taranaki region.  The training will take place at the workplace and will build core communication, numeracy and foundation level skills, which will build confidence in our learners and enable them to succeed at work.

You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Assessing learner level through the use of the TEC On-line Literacy and Assessment Tool
  • Designing and delivering workplace-based engaging training sessions with clear learning outcomes
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with appropriate personnel to create student success. 

We are looking for people who:

  • are passionate about working with adults to achieve workplace literacy and numeracy (communication) goals
  • have empathy and warmth, intercultural skills, and a strong knowledge of New Zealand cultures
  • have confidence in engaging and working with Maori and Pasifika models of learning
  • are self-motivated and able to work remotely, as well as interact with the learners and employers to deliver an effective training programme
  • are able to deliver weekly reports, maintain attendance records and compile administrative tasks as required
  • hold an adult teaching qualification such as NCALNE
  • are confident in delivering digital literacy and financial literacy content
