WITT is a great place to work!  On this page, you will see a snapshot of our recent Engagement and Climate Survey results.  We have, over the past three years, improved our Engagement Index score to 75.96% (for comparison, the State Sector score is 69%).  Everyone in the WITT team is committed to year on year improvements in communication, engagement, and outcomes for our learners and our community.

Academic Staff Member - Beauty Therapy Tutor

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments.

We are looking to recruit on a full-time/fixed-term Academic Staff Member in our Hair and Beauty team.  The role commences in February 2019, to teach in our Beauty Therapy programmes. You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies.

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Academic teaching and assessment for courses indicated
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across WITT to create student success. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified Beauty Therapist 
  • holds a relevant Level 4 or 5 or equivalent qualification
  • has a minimum of five years practical industry experience
  • has an up to date understanding of current trends

Teaching qualifications and/or experience is an advantage but not essential.

Counsellor/Social Worker

WITT is a tertiary education organisation that prides itself on its quality learning and student success.

We are looking to recruit a Student Counsellor/Social Worker on a part-time (32 hours per week) permanent basis. The position is based on the Bell Street campus, working as part of the student support team, and reporting to the Director of Student Support.

Primary Objectives for the role include:

  • Offering counselling services to students
  • Delivering student education and wellness workshops
  • Taking a leadership role in supporting students with mental illness
  • Overseeing student hardship
  • Mentoring the student leaders group

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a Professionally qualified counsellor/social worker
  • Competent in tikanga Maori
  • Confident with group presentations
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills, particularly in relation to planning, time management and record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Technology competent

Academic Staff Member – Business & Management

We are looking to recruit a fixed–term 0.6 Academic Staff Member to teach a range of Business courses on our New Zealand Diploma in Business and Bachelor of Applied Management programmes for 2019. You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies.

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Academic teaching and assessment for our business courses (in particular: Economics, Organisation Behaviour, Research Methods, Marketing, Leadership and Business Planning)
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across WITT to create student success.  

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a business related degree and is qualified at Master’s or Post Graduate Diploma level
  • Has a background that includes skills in knowledge transfer
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages and cultures
  • Is able to undertake evening work if required

Teaching qualifications and/or experience is an advantage but not essential.

We are looking to recruit on a full-time/fixed-term Academic Staff Member, starting in February 2019, to teach in our Automotive Trade programmes. You will be part of an energetic, engaging and professional team that will fully support not only the students but also your own development.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator, who is able to support, guide and motivate students in the course of their studies.

Applicants will need to be a qualified mechanic, with at least five years’ experience.

 Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Academic teaching and assessment for courses indicated
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across WITT to create student success. 

 We are looking for someone who:

  • holds a relevant Level 4 or 5 or equivalent qualification
  • has a minimum of five years practical industry experience
  • has a good understanding of modern automotive electronic systems
  • has excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages
  • is able to undertake evening work when required

Office/Finance Administrator – Hamilton Based

The New Zealand Institute of Highway Technology (NZIHT) established in 1992 is a training organisation that delivers across New Zealand and offshore, offering formal block course qualifications from certificate to postgraduate level and a diverse tailored range of short courses for the engineering, roading, construction and civil industries. 

We are looking for an administrator to be part of the NZIHT team in our Hamilton office. The position is a full time, permanent position.  The position will be busy and fast-paced.  You will need to be able to be adaptable to change, able to multi-task and have an excellent customer focus.

Key tasks for this role include

  • Providing excellent customer service for all internal and external customers
  • Providing relevant, timely and accurate information at reception either face-to-face, electronically or over the phone
  • Administration and general office duties

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a highly effective communicator and who is able to support, manage and exceed customer expectations
  • Enjoys working with a range of people
  • Competent with using the latest technology and databases
  • Works well within a team environment, has good organisational and time management skills, excellent personal and communication skills and problem-solving skills.

It is desirable that you would

  • have experience in the tertiary education sector with a student management system, but this is not necessary

Electrical Tutor/Academic Staff Member

Are you looking for a change in 2019? 

WITT is a tertiary education organisation which prides itself on its student success and quality learning environments. Our trade’s team at WITT is a group of skilled tutors who are passionate about their trades and the future of those trades in Taranaki.  

We are looking for an electrical tutor to join our trades teaching team at WITT in February 2019.   Applicants will need to be a registered electrician, with at least five years’ experience.

We are looking for someone who;

  • Academic teaching and assessment for courses indicated
  • Participating in the process of student evaluations, modifying teaching practices where required and continuing the development of new and engaging teaching materials
  • Must have minimum Electrical Service Technician registration, New Zealand (EWRB)
  • Recognising student support needs and engaging with teams across WITT to create student success. 

It is desirable that you would;

  • Teaching experience is desirable, but those with appropriate industry experience should also apply

Academic Staff Member - NZIHT - Hamilton

The New Zealand Institute of Highway Technology (NZIHT) established in 1992 is a training organisation that delivers across New Zealand and off shore, offering formal block course qualifications from certificate to graduate diploma level and a diverse tailored range of short courses for the engineering, roading, construction and civil industries. 

We are looking for a full-time Academic Staff member with 2 years minimum relevant industry experience in Civil to join and be part of the NZIHT team at our Hamilton Campus.  

The position is diverse; fast-paced and requires travel across New Zealand delivering courses from the Diploma in Civil Engineering and the Graduate Diploma in Highways.  You will need to be adaptable, and hold qualifications in Civil Engineering.

The position is responsible for teaching and learning and to ensure all quality academic requirements are met.
