Expression of Interest –Academic Staff Members - Various Trades Skills

With an expansion in our programmes we are looking for expressions of interest to teach the following trade programmes:

  • Automotive Engineering – Light and Electrical
  • Mechanical Engineering – Welding
  • Electrical
  • Forestry
  • Pest Control
  • Carpentry

We can offer full-time positions or casual/part-time options (integrated into your current employment/business), based at our Bell Street campus.

We bring the real-world to our students at WITT and we need you to impart your knowledge in your trade to the next generation. 

If you can tick the following boxes we'd love to hear from you:

  • Have experience with training or in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of people
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills will be vital
  • Maintain a tidy and professional appearance

Previous academic experience would be an advantage, but we'd also love to see applications from those currently working in industry who would like to begin an academic career. WITT is very supportive of new lecturers and offers teacher coaching, professional development, and workshops on the essentials of teaching and learning.

Academic Staff Member - Nursing

The School of Nursing at WITT is looking to recruit a full time permanent Academic Staff member for our successful Nursing Team. Applicants will need to be a registered nurse with a NCNZ APC and recent clinical and/or teaching experience.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has at least five years’ work experience specific to relevant clinical fields of practice.
  • holds or is working towards a Masters or post graduate qualification in a related area to nursing or education; or is prepared to work towards a Masters Qualification
  • enjoys working with nursing students.

It is desirable that you would:

  • have experience in a teaching and learning environment and have an innovative approach to facilitating learning
  • be actively engaged or have an interest in research
  • have information technology skills and experience in online learning platforms.

Clinical Placement Technician

We are looking for a fixed-term, part-time (0.5 FTE) team member for our School of Nursing, Health and Wellness.  This role is varied and no two days are the same.   Your day would be spent coordinating students and placement providers to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has customer service experience.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook .
  • Has the ability to move through different tasks throughout the day.
  • Has excellent organisation skills.
  • Is able to work both in a team and independently.
  • Is willing to learn.
  • Is able to build effective relationships.

ECUMENICAL TERTIARY CHAPLAIN

The Taranaki Tertiary Chaplaincy Trust Board in conjunction with the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) based in New Plymouth, is recruiting for an Ecumenical Chaplain to join the WITT student support team.  This is a permanent, part-time position (24 hours a week).

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing pastoral support and spiritual guidance from an ecumenical perspective, to the widely diverse WITT community of staff and students, both domestic and international. 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A passion for youth and education
  • Experience working ecumenically, within a bicultural and multicultural community
  • Pastoral support experience
  • Professional networks within the local church communities
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed oral and writing skills, and computer competency
  • Is a self-starter, demonstrates initiative and can work autonomously and as part of a team
  • A qualification in theology or ministry is desirable
