Introductory Engineering Mathematics Training Scheme

This training scheme has been designed to provide introductory mathematic skills and knowledge in an engineering context.

For the purpose of providing a pathway for students to meet the entry criteria for the NZ Diploma in Engineering or provide students with current mathematic skills and application required for study in the NZ Diploma in Engineering programme. 

Entry Requirements

Academic entry criteria

Applicants should demonstrate an ability to succeed in tertiary study, shown by the completion of any of the following qualifications or courses of study:

  • NCEA Level 1 and must include NCEA Level 1 requirements for Literacy and Numeracy ; and/or

  • Equivalent NQF Unit Standards

English Language

Applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools or other teaching institutions is not English, are required to provide evidence of having passed such tests of English language competence as detailed in Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency.

Life Skills/Work Experience

Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme of study if they are able to demonstrate:

  • Evidence of equivalent knowledge and skills gained through relevant life skills or work experience, or

  • Evidence or other formal or informal study at a level that demonstrates the potential to succeed at Level 3.

On 1 November 2022, WITT and the programme you have enrolled in became part of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology .
When you apply to study with WITT in 2023, you will be enrolled with Te Pūkenga, the new national network of vocational and applied education in Aotearoa New Zealand. You will learn in the same way, in the same place, and with the same people. The great news is that this enables us to share skills and knowledge across a network of passionate education providers, to better help you succeed.
Please note that all programmes offered by WITT and other subsidiaries of Te Pūkenga are under review. This is to make sure they are portable, consistent, and aligned with the needs of the industry to provide you with excellent and quality educational opportunities.
