Student Services

Student Loans and Allowances

WITT provides a dedicated computer and support staff in the Registry Office for applications and enquiries for student loan and allowances through StudyLink. Apply early for financing.

WITT students have free access to GivME, a national online database which lists over 3900 scholarships. Scholarships (also called grants or awards) are there to benefit students by providing financial assistance.

A range of scholarships and grants is available for students undertaking tertiary study. Some scholarships apply to specific areas of study, others are available to assist students who fit specific criteria (e.g. hardship, ethnicity or school) and yet others are for the general student population.

Accessibility Services

A range of support services are available to students with impairment including enrolment assistance, specialist equipment and furniture, reader/writers, car parking, exam arrangements, information and advocacy.

Free Bus Service

Our Tertiary Bus Service allows WITT students to travel for free on all New Plymouth urban bus services provided by Tranzit Coach Lines, including travel from Waitara and Oakura, and free on the Connector bus service from Opunake and Hāwera, on any day at any time. Student Job Search

WITT  is proudly an Associate Member of Student Job Search (SJS).

For students of WITT, SJS is a free service aimed at assisting students in their search for employment. From one-off jobs around the home through to full-time graduate positions, SJS is a student’s one-stop-shop for earning as you learn and gaining valuable on-the-job experience.

Student Facilities 

Te Whare Matauranga - Learning Resource Centre

Our Academic Service and library team provide guidance and support to ensure your academic success. They can assist you with getting organised to study, in carrying out research, accessing databases, assignment writing, note taking, exam preparation, time management, referencing, computing, maths and course-related literacy and numeracy.

WITT houses Taranaki’s only dedicated academic library with a collection of 30,000 print books, 40,000 electronic books and a wide variety of print and electronic journals, newspapers, magazines and recreational reading materials.

All library resources are available via the WITT Library website. The Learning Resource Centre also houses fully networked computers for student use.

Fitness Factory Gym

The Fitness Factory is FREE for all students. The new space opened in 2020 and features all-new, state of the art equipment and audio-visual set up, secure bag storage, plus new shower and changing facilities. Open 7 days a week from 6am to 8pm, there’s plenty of time to hit the gym for a workout or group fitness class. If you need to clear your head, check out our yoga classes on Mondays and Friday lunchtimes.

Computer Suites

WITT has computer suites available to all students, located on 1st floor of B Block and the Learning Resource Centre.

Kopa Manaaki: Māori and Pasifika Centre

The Māori and Pasifika Centre provides a range of cultural and pastoral support services to encourage and support Māori and Pasifika students to achieve their study goals.

Te Kāuta Cafe

The large and popular WITT cafeteria has indoor and outdoor eating areas. The café offers a variety of food and drink at reasonable prices Monday to Friday. Vending machines also provide a range of cold drinks and snacks.

Garage Cafe and Impressions Restaurant

WITT’s own award-winning training restaurant and café offer high-quality food and drinks at great prices. Come and enjoy a great meal or coffee from the future’s best baristas and chefs. Phone (06) 757 3100 ext 8940 for reservations. WITT students receive a 25% discount on their meal provided they bring a valid WITT student ID card, no ID card no discount.

International Student Support

International support staff offer assistance to international students. Support prior to arrival includes course applications and enrolments, visas, travel and health insurance, travel arrangements, airport pick-ups, accommodation support, pastoral care, cultural and personal support and many opportunities to join in various events and experience Kiwi life. 

Te Puna Manaaki (Wellness Hub)

The Wellness team provide a range of services to support you in your studies including health and medical care, counselling, chaplaincy, accessibilityand international support. If you need assistance or experience any barriers to your learning then come and see one of the staff in our Wellness Team. These services are free and confidential. 


WITT has two on-site accommodation blocks – simply move in and make yourself at home. This is affordable, apartment-like living with spacious rooms in the heart of New Plymouth city. Your room will be clean, private and comfortable to live and study in, complete with private bathroom, fridge, wardrobe and computer desk.
