Remove that stress

Take the stress out of study with help of WITT.

This is Stress-Free Study Week and it coincides with the semester coming to an end and your final assignments and exams being just around the corner.

Te Whare Mātauranga, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC),  is planning a week-long programme and is open Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5.30pm, Friday 8 am to 4 pm and Saturday 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Librarian Min White says students will be offered the use of a  tactile stress-relief table, lollies in return for best study tips  “and a lunchtime period with the very soft, fluffy, chilled out dog, Breeze, guaranteed to drop your stress levels.”

There is plenty of information in the library collection about how to absorb and retain study notes and information.  Talk to a Librarian at the Lending and iDesk for more information.

Here are some tips from the LRC:

  • Study a little bit lots – take regular breaks every 30 minutes and get some fresh air or a drink.  Your brain will thank you.
  • Plan ahead, know when the final hand-in for assignments is and what you need to do.  Check your assignment guidelines and course descriptors for learning outcomes.
  • Make sure you are prepared for exams – check out the Library website for exam tips
  • Use The Quiet Zone in Te Whare Mātauranga, it’s a perfect spot for pre-exam preparation or finishing your assignments.


Remember help is at hand. The Library team can help you find the right information for your assignment and can also help with frustrating technology glitches.

The Learning Centre team can offer advice on writing, study and math strategies.

The Te Puna Manaaki team (student support) can help if you are feeling overwhelmed or life is getting in the way of completing your studies.
