Graduate Success Stories

Every year over 1300 students graduate from degrees, diplomas and certificates from WITT.  They become business leaders, managers, nurses, mechanics, accountants, designers, beauty therapists, engineers, technicians and more.  Here are just a few of our recent graduates.

HARSHEEL PATEL - GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING (HIGHWAYS)
Coming to New Zealand in 2017 to study the Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Highways), Harsheel graduated the following year and has now found work as a Resource Consent Engineer at Far North District Council. He said the knowledge and skills he gained during his time at NZIHT helped him to find results in his current job and continue to give him the confidence to pursue his career goals.

“My role as a Resource Consent Engineer deals with the subdivision of land, and assessing engineering conditions according to District plans and rules like the Local Government Act and Resource Management Act. It also involves engineering aspects like stormwater, wastewater and infrastructure management,” he said. “Down the line, I see myself with this qualification taking a leadership role, becoming more competent in this industry and setting an example for other learners who come to WITT and NZIHT to begin their careers.”

“If you want to gain the right skills and education for a career in the roading and engineering industry, NZIHT will be the right move. Your engineering future will be bright.”

KIM ROGERS - NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS
My dream was to upskill and obtain a tertiary qualification that provided a solid platform for a career in the business finance industry.  This led me to WITT.  With fantastic family support, I embarked on the most amazing journey that enriched my life.  Together with the combination of a highly skilled and inspiring WITT staff, a diverse student culture, an engaging learning environment, hard work and a never give up attitude, the dream became a reality.  It truly is the most empowering experience and I highly recommend it.

Kim now works at Public Trust in New Plymouth.

CHLOE REID - DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE GRAPHICS
Coming to WITT become a no-brainer for me after high school.  I was able to work and study at home.  WITT exceeded my expectations of the creative world and I will be forever grateful for the tutors' work and dedication to the students. In years to come, I hope to gain even more experience and confidence in web and graphic design.

Chloe now works at TGM Creative in New Plymouth.

WINNER OF THE TGM CREATIVE "TOP STUDENT" GRADUATE PRIZE 2014.

AIMEE MATOE  - CERTIFICATE IN HAIRDRESSING
I came to WITT in 2013 to complete my levels 1 & 2 and then gained certificates in Business Administration and Computing Level 3 and Make-up Artistry. From there I completed my first year of hairdressing at WITT. I competed in the Taranaki regional competitions and placed fourth in the novice section, which allowed me to compete at the NZARH Supreme Awards in Auckland where I placed third. I was then offered an apprenticeship with Be Ba Bo. I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of the loving tutors, new friends I made and the WITT’s support network.

Aimee now works at BeBaBo Hair Studio.

NICOLA SIMPSON - BACHELOR OF SOCIAL WORK
When volunteering at 'Springboard' an organisation which works with at-risk youth and children north of Auckland, I would say to people "this would be my dream job".  They then encouraged me to study a Bachelor of Social Work as it would give me a greater professional capacity for future roles.  I then moved back to Taranaki where I am originally from and enrolled at WITT.  This degree has given me greater knowledge and understanding of how to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.  I am now a Community Support Coordinator at CCS Disability Action.  I am loving working with children, families, youth and adults supporting them to reach their goals and aspirations.  I am stoked in knowing that this degree has given me broad opportunities to work in any field of work I choose in the future.

Nicola is now working at CCS Disability Action.

CORBIN FRASER - CERTIFICATE IN ELECTRICAL SKILLS
I have always been a hands-on practical person and rather than go to university I decided to go to WITT and enrolled to study the Certificate in Electrical Skills.  I found I enjoyed the programme and the positive learning environment provided at WITT.  Along with my programme, I obtained practical work experience with an electrical business and at the end of my programme I had been offered full-time employment with NPE - TECH as an Electrical Apprentice.

Corbin is now working at NPE - TECH.
