Qualification overview

This qualification will give you the essential knowledge and skills that are needed to start a career in cheffing, restaurants, café’s, catering and fast food operations. You will learn how to cook and prepare in a commercial kitchen and learn cooking methods, food safety and essential cooking skills.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking 8065-01
• City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering 8065-21

      

Entry requirements

  • 48 or more credits at NCEA Level 1 including NCEA Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy requirements; or
  • Equivalent NZQF standards; or
  • Other suitable equivalent Level 1 or 2 qualification
  • Equivalent knowledge, skills, work experience or study.
