Qualification overview

This qualification is intended to assist people engaging or re-engaging with learning who have the basic capabilities needed to pursue education or employment pathways, but require further development to confidently use them to succeed in those pathways. It recognises the importance of applying core capabilities such as confidence, basic knowledge and skills, and literacy and numeracy, in a range of familiar contexts.

Students complete THREE compulsory courses:

  • This Is Me
  • This Is Me In The Wider World
  • This Is My Pathway

And ONE elective: 

  • Restaurant Pathway or
  • Salon Pathway or
  • Trades Pathway or
  • Fitness Pathway or
  • Health Pathway

Please note elective pathways will be offered subject to numbers, and not all pathways will be available in Hāwera (but students may still complete these pathways by travelling to New Plymouth 1-2 days a week).  Note: WITT students get free bus travel on the Connector Bus.

Graduates may proceed to study towards higher level WITT qualifications.
