Qualification overview

Enhance your creativity and pursue your career as a hair stylist. In this programme you will learn the art of becoming a hairdresser and stylist. You will gain plenty of practical experience in our campus salon Industrie, preparing you for the workforce.

This programme is delivered three days per week. You are also required to compelete a minimum of 100 hours of work experience in the hairdressing industry.



What you will learn:

  • Perform scissor and razor cutting services
  • Select colour and perform a range of colouring and de-colouring services including full head of highlights
  • Perform client consultations, including hair and scalp analysis in relation to chemical services
  • Perform advanced styling tasks, including blow waving, finger waving, setting and hair-ups
  • Recommend home hair care products to meet a range of client needs

Entry requirements

Students must achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) (Level 3) to gain entry into the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist) (Level 4) or equivalent skills and knowledge.
