Welcome to Bryce Turner

Today we welcomed Bryce Turner to WITT, and the role of Tumu Paearahi / Director, School of Māori Enterprise, Business & Technology.

Bryce Turner | Mihi whakatau:

Ko Tainui te Waka

Ko Taupiri te Maunga

Ko Waikato te Awa

Ko Bryce Turner ahau

Bryce joins WITT with over 20 years of applied knowledge and experience in business leadership and people management. He’s worked across the Māori sector in investment advisory roles, business development and consulting, and also has over 10 years tertiary education experience supporting tauira success.

Bryce said that one of the drivers of his decision to accept the role was the opportunity to balance his business acumen with his aspiration to support the cultural, social, economic and environmental development of Māori.

He said his career is focussed on Māori stakeholders with a commitment to Whānau, Hapū and Iwi transformation.

Chief Executive John Snook said the particular balance in Bryce’s skillset made him a strong candidate for the role of Tumu Paearahi / School Director.

“Bryce will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the School,” John said.  “So he’ll be focussed on providing strong academic leadership and strategic vision, as well as quality learner experiences and success.

“His commitment to Māori development is critical to the role, because there’s an urgent priority placed on delivering partnerships, protection and participation to achieve equity for Māori learners and staff.”

Bryce is an Authorized Financial Adviser with his own consultancy which focusses on supporting opportunities to enhance Māori financial knowledge and wealth creation. He has a Bachelor of Māori Development, an MBA, and is currently undertaking a PhD.

The WITT team farewells Linda Weterman this week as she embarks on a new adventure. Linda led the School of Māori Enterprise, Business & Technology for most of the past year, joining WITT as Director soon after the four schools were established.

"In that time she has shown a dedication and passion for education and the success of our learners," John said. "We are grateful to Linda for her contribution and commitment to WITT’s purpose – connecting people to their future."
