WITT in India

WITT’s EER results were among the topics of conversation when Chief Executive Barbara George and WITT Commercial executive director Brian Souness met Joanna Kempkers. New Zealand’s High Commissioner to India this week.

During the Delhi portion of their visit, they discussed NZQA’s restored confidence in WITT and how the Polytech was performing.

“We discussed the current international enrolments which are strong, particular our Nepalese numbers,” Barbara George said.

WITT has five per cent of New Zealand’s total Nepalese students. Joanna Kempkers is also New Zealand’s ambassador to Nepal.

Barbara George said the High Commissioner was well informed and interested in New Zealand’s regions and there were discussions around further opportunities for WITT.

“NZIHT has some 70 international students studying the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Highways and we discussed the significant need for these graduates both in New Zealand and in India.

“The High Commissioner thanked us for the visit as it’s useful for her to have current information from itps (Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics) when she speaks with students and their families in the course of her work.

The WITT delegation also had discussions with Jugnu Roy, Business Development Manager at New Zealand Trade & Enterprise in Delhi.
