WITT Open Day 2015

WITT doesn't do things by halves and this year the traditional open day on campus will be held over two days – Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6.

Marketing team assistant Nicole Goble explains:   "On the Friday we're really targeting the secondary school students who usually come to have a look during the day. The open day is on from 10am to 1pm and there is a lot to see, including interactive presentations,  talks about student benefits and what WITT qualifications are available;  campus tours, meeting WITT  tutors and students and getting information on careers.''

On the Saturday, open day runs from 11am to 3pm and that day is more tailored for the wider community, Nicole said.

"As we're offering night classes now we're hoping to attract fulltime workers, mums who work part time during the week, and maybe parents who've been at Saturday's morning sport with their children who might like to drop in after that.

"We'd also encourage school students who came on Friday to come back with mum and dad, who are usually keen to get involved and are influential in what career decisions are made. That way they can all see what's on offer."

Nicole said the day is relaxed.

"There's no set structure, so drop in when it's convenient. All departments are open, including the student-run Garage Cafe, so anyone is welcome to have a coffee and a leisurely wander around our Bell St campus.

"The Art and design students are putting on an exhibition for the day. It's good for them to showcase their work, as well as prospective students to see what's possible.''

Nicole said WITT was conscious of being community-focused and Saturday June 6 presented an opportunity for anyone to come and have a look around.

"We're organising free busses from Hawera, Okato and Waitara and anyone wanting to use the transport could book by ringing 0800 948 896."
