Tutors' delight at success

This week has marked the end of 19 weeks of blended learning for 16 student health care assistants, who completed their final assessment with a robust debate for and against the use of restraints in eldercare.

The students started with a shared kai and following the presentation of their arguments, ended with a poroporoake delivered by tutor Dee-anna Ritai-Te Awa as a farewell from their completed course.

Tutor Tara Malone said it was fantastic for the tutors to watch these students blossom as they gained confidence and self-belief along their journey, and success in the programme to date has inspired several students to continue study next semester with the intention of commencing the Bachelor of Nursing Couse in 2019.

“Several of the students are already employed, or have imminent interviews, which is testament to their hard work and best practice beliefs which they bring with them as they embark in their new career in the healthcare industry,” she said. “We are really proud of their achievements.”
