Our Kids head north

The practice is done, now it’s time to cook.

Taranaki’s representatives in the NZ Chefs Kiwi Kids Can Cook competition head to Auckland this weekend for Sunday morning’s finals.

WITT has a keen interest in the competition as it hosted the Taranaki finals and WITT Faculty Leader Angela Ferguson is Executive of the NZ Chefs Taranaki Branch.

Benjamin Chow and Greer Lock qualified for the finals by winning their sections at the Taranaki finals at the end of June, and for Benjamin, it will be his second national final in as many years.

Benjamin attends St Pius School while Greer goes to Vogeltown School.

Greer boasts some expert support – her dad Aaron Lock is a house dean and hospitality teacher at New Plymouth Boys’ High School.

The competition is run in two categories – 5-9 and 10-12 years.

“There has been lots of practising and we wish them the best of luck,” Angela said.

Greer helped with the publicity for the event when she was interviewed yesterday by Ken and Anna on More FM’s breakfast show.

The event will be part of the New Zealand Hospitality Championships held at the Logan Campbell Centre, ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland.
