Businesses invited to WITT

Join us at the Chamber of Commerce, Business Connections

Tuesday 4th June 5:15pm - 7pm.

Taranaki businesses will hear about the global direction of WITT and how it is aligning with the government’s review of vocational education (RoVE) next week.

It hosts a Taranaki Chamber of Commerce Business Connections gathering at Te Kāuta café on its New Plymouth campus on Tuesday.

WITT’s role in the new climate will be to add to regional productivity by offering professional development for individuals and preparing them for the future of work.

Business leaders will hear there is a strong return on investment for employers who train their employees.

The Business Connections event will coincide with the news on stand-alone course options on the WITT site, www.witt.ac.nz.

Chief executive John Snook and Open Polytechnic of New Zealand chief Dr Caroline Seelig will speak at the event, underlining a collegial approach to education.

“We are partnering with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and WITT welcomes their students to our campus as though they are WITT students. Likewise, OPNZ will welcome WITT students to their learning material where ever possible,” John Snook said.

He said the direction of tertiary education for WITT would focus on adding to the region’s productivity by providing just in time skills to those already employed.

“This will be blended learning where the student is in control of how they wish to receive the learning.”

Tuesday’s event is open to the public.

“Taranaki governs WITT, and our board members play key roles in the community. The Chamber chair Daniel Fleming is a board member, and our chairman Robin Brockie sits on the Venture Taranaki board as is a member of the Tapuae Roa management team,” John Snook.

“It is important we work as a team in Taranaki to ensure what we are providing is best for our people and our businesses.

“I look forward to talking to employers and community leaders.”

WITT Business Connections on Tuesday, June 4, will run from 5.15 to 7pm.
