Be drawn to this

Tutor Ged Guy thinks there are many people with a secret desire to try their hand at drawing – but are just too nervous.

So she and fellow tutor Ian Clothier are responding to that by running a series of classes with a difference.

They will be community-based courses, which will be affordable – and will not require students to go through an assessment at the end and materials are provided.

Ged says she and Ian will cater for beginners through to experienced students.

Her first ‘Drawing Made Easy’ class will be in Hawera on Tuesday March 26 from 11am to 2pm, following by one in New Plymouth two days later, from 4-6pm. The classes cost $30.

Other classes include Beginners Screen Printing and Life Drawing and Drawing Portraits.

Tutor Ian Clothier will be offering workshops creating a ‘Zine,’ ‘Video poetry,’ ‘Make a free website’ and ‘Plan and manage a short exhibition’.  The first workshop starts Saturday, May 11 and runs from 10am to 4pm.

Ian's workshops are all free, however, the exhibition may involve some costs to the participants. Some are held on Wednesday evenings.

Taranaki painters are also being invited to an event at WITT’s New Plymouth campus on July 11. They will spend a day painting a choice of two “still lifes” and their work will be judged by the community – and sold to raise money for charity.
