Bach on the move

Work is set to start on removing two old building to be replaced by a new carpentry base for WITT on its New Plymouth campus.

At the same a two bedroom house built less than 100 metres from the site has been moved to Central House Movers in Waiwhakaiho and is being marketed by Libby Baird at McDonald Real Estate.

The new workshop, close to 300 square metres, will cater for an influx of New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) Carpentry students who have been attracted by a strong demand for qualified carpenters. The Government plans to oversee the construction of 100,000 Kiwibuild houses over 10 years for first home buyers.

Tutor Chris Gibson says the new carpentry workshop will be ready to use by mid-March.

Chris oversaw build-a-bach last year and in 2016 on the WITT site.

The two-bedroom bach is on the market for $165,000.
