Around the world for lunch

WITT will take on an international theme when Migrant Connections Taranaki hosts a luncheon on Monday (December 18).

The gathering marks the 27th anniversary of the UN Assembly adopting the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

The luncheon, an annual event at WITT since 2013, will be held from 11am to 1pm at Te Piere on the New Plymouth campus.

Organiser Maha Al-Fayyad said Migrant Connections Taranaki sought to help migrants blend in their new community as quickly as possible and “reduce the cultural gap and encourage Kiwis and migrants to work productively together’’.

Geetha Kutty, Co-ordinator Migrant Connections Taranaki, works with Taranaki migrants to provide settlement information and help with a range of advice and support.

More than 50 people, from Germany, France, Jordan, India, Spain, Chile, Mexico, Russia, the Philippines and New Zealand are expected to attend the luncheon.
