MAORI
MAORI have a long cultural heritage in Taranaki with the first Maori arriving here
around 1,000 years ago. Today, there are approximately 15,000 Maori living in Taranaki.

Maori Studies at WITT
Learning Maori is something that should be lived, not just taught, and WITT is able to offer you total immersion Maori language programmes. Our Maori classes
are designed to give you a working understanding of te reo Maori as well as an appreciation of cultural protocols and customs, all within a supportive wananga
learning environment.
Many graduates return to their iwi, hapu and marae to share the knowledge and
confidence gained while studying, and apply their new skills in a work, home or co
mmunity environment.
