ON-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATION

Te Henui Lodge provides modern, spacious secure apartment-style accommodation facilities with managers living on-site. Domestic and international students live on-site, offering great immersion language opportunities for those wanting to practice their English, make friends and learn about New Zealand culture. Located on campus, you'll have convenient access to the library, and all the attractions of the central city within easy walking distance. The on-campus accommodation is NOT assessed or monitored by WITT.

Facilities Include: Swipe card access, large commercial-standard kitchen, café style eating areas; TV Room complete with large screen TV and satellite TV; comfortable lounge areas, coin operated washing machines and driers. Security cameras operate.

Room Facilities Include: Bathroom- toliet, basin and shower ensuite, queen bed or single beds. Fridge, wardrobe, study desk, central heating, phone and internet connections available (fees apply).

Cost: All fees are based on 2015 Hostel fees, and may be subject to change. Single rooms NZD$155 per person per week. These costs do not include food or linen. Initial fess include three weeks rent in advance plus one weeks rent in lieu of a bond. RESIDENTS must be 18 years of age and a minimum stay period of 28 days applies.

NOTE: On-campus accommodation is not suitable for families.

WITT cannot guarantee that rooms at the on-campus hostel will be available and we strongly recommend that students apply for accommodation as soon as possible to ensure they do not miss out on accommodation.

HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION

Homestay offers a caring family living environment, which can ease the adjustment of living in a new country with different food, language and customs.

Homestay families welcome international students into their homes and this is an ideal choice for students who want to experience living with a New Zealand family. Homestay accommodation is particularly suitable for students who are studying English language.

Homestay accommodation is assessed and monitored by WITT and is "WITT approved" accommodation.

Facilities Include: three meals each day, and includes a private bedroom, study facilities, bed linen and towels (e.g. sheets and blankets) and laundry facilities. Homestay costs do not include personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo and toiletries. The costs of telephone calls to overseas countries are the responsibility of the student and arrangements must be made with the host families for all toll calls. 

Costs: Homestay costs NZD$220 per week. Homestay application fee is NZD$100.

 


PRIVATE RENTAL ACCOMMODATION (FLATTING)

Students who wish to live independently can rent an apartment or share a house with others. In a flat you can have your own room or share with other students. Flats are usually unfurnished. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared. Rent is paid per room with all other expenses (food, power, telephone and internet) along with cooking and cleaning shared.

If you choose this type of accommodation, you will need to find your own rental property, however we strongly advise you to book the on-campus accommodation prior to arrival to allow you time to arrange alternative accommodation. A useful guide designed for people who need to know the basics of what the law relating to renting and tenacy mean, especially if you are renting for the first time, is "Renting and You - a guide to the law about renting" www.dbh.govt.nz/renting-and-you. This booklet is available in 8 languages -English, Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Korean, Chines, Arabic and Cook Islands. 

Costs for flats in New Plymouth range from $100-$150 a room per week.

Please note that flats are not WITT assessed accommodation and flatting is not an option for students under 18 years of age.
