Qualification overview
The aim of Pokaitahi Taiahoaho is to provide Taranaki kaumatua/kuia with the opportunity to supplement and enhance the individual and collective capabilities required to fulfill culturally significant roles they hold within Maori and the wider Taranaki community. A typical graduate will be able to perform an array of Taranaki oral protocols, understand and apply relevant Taranaki tikanga, discuss selected Taranaki Maori history and traditions, discuss current social and political issues and display an appropriate level of oral language.
Entry requirements
Applicants will be verified as a kaumatua by a selection group which will consist of representatives of Te Reo o Taranaki and the Puke Ariki Kaumatua Kaunihera. The selection group will recommend entry of applicants based on criteria consistent with the programme objectives.

Further study options
WITT's Pokaitahi Kapunipuni Reo (Certificate in Taranaki Oral Language). Pokairua Hopuapua, Te Tohu Mohiotanga, Maori Performing Arts and Certificate in Kaumatua skills (Level 4).
