Qualification overview

Pokaitahi Taiahoaho Taumata Wha is a qualification that has been designed for kaumatua and kuia collectively. The qualification caters to students that want to up-skill themselves in knowledge required to fulfil their roles and responsibilities as kaumatua and kuia or as cultural advisors within institutions, schools and organisations that require significant expertise in tikanga and kaupapa Maori.

The programme will be delivered in an environment that caters for the distinctive learning needs of kaumatua and kuia and addresses issues such as physical environment, co-operative peer learning, kaumatua/kuia learning styles, scheduling, learning styles and resources. The programme is also structured in a manner that caters for the learning needs of kaumatua and kuia from both the North and South Taranaki confederates.

This qualification will lead on from Pokaitahi Taiahoaho (Level 3)

Entry requirements

Selection will be based on Taranaki whakapapa, reo proficiency, community involvement, ability to attend and skills or experience.
