Pokaitahi Kapunipuni Reo

The aim of Pokaitahi Kapunipuni Reo is to increase competence in Taranaki reo amongst those with highest levels of language proficiency as part of a Taranaki Reo revitalisation project. The drive for the programme largely relates to the position of Taranaki’s unique language dialect. It has been identified that an in-depth appreciation of the characteristic features of Taranaki reo is really only achieved by speakers with high levels of proficiency, and most speakers with this level of language ability seek opportunities to further their Taranaki reo capacity.

Selection will be based on Taranaki whakapapa, reo proficiency, community involvement,  and skills or experience.

Iwi groups, central and local Government, Education, tourism, health, media and broadcasting, Kohanga Reo, kura kaupapa Maori.

Graduates can undertake further study towards Pokairua Hopuapua Reo (Diploma in Oral Taranaki Language Level 6).
