Qualification overview

This qualification is intended for whānau, hapū, and others who work in the area of resource management, specifically in the protection and management of Māori heritage, including wāhi tapu and wāhi tūpuna; and are seeking a formal qualification to work independently at an intermediate level.

This programme is subject to NZQA approval.

  

This programme is delivered in conjunction with Te Reo o Taranaki

Entry requirements

Applicants will be verified as kaumātua by a selection group which will consist of representatives of Te Reo o Taranaki and the Kaumātua Kaunihera.

Career Options

Hapu /Iwi Monitor, Heritage Advisor, Archaeology Assistant, Adviser or Consultant in local and regional government (e.g. agencies, iwi resource management units, and planners and developers) Environment Representative for whānau, hapū, iwi and the hapori on local, regional, and national bodies, and Government Agencies.

Further study options

This qualification may lead to Rumakihia te Taiao (Kaupae 6), or other Level 5 mātauranga Māori qualifications.
