Certificate in Espresso, Bar and Restaurant

Before Savana Noble began studying at WITT she had low self-esteem.

But now, equipped with a bunch of hospitality qualifications, the 30-something mother of three is bubbling with enthusiasm about the future. “I can’t believe how much confidence I have gained on these courses,” she says.

In 2008, Savana completed a Certificate in Culinary Arts (Level 3), the following year did her Diploma in Professional Cookery (Level 5) and in 2011, returned to WITT to do the Certificate in Espresso, Bar and Restaurant (Level 3).

Savana says she had a family at a young age and hadn’t pursued a career. “I woke up and thought ‘I have to do something’ and I was really passionate and inspired by food, so I did the culinary arts course.”

That whetted her appetite for more, so she went on to do the cookery diploma. Students who complete this course gain three qualifications – the Diploma in Professional Cookery, plus the City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary Art and the Diploma in Patisserie.

In 2010, she was a chef at Pukeiti and has also been a casual worker for Eurest. Savana says she loved everything about studying at WITT. “The tutors have inspired me, opened doors and made me look at myself.”

“It’s been a really great time of my life,” she says. “Without WITT I would still be at home, twiddling my thumbs and dreaming about what I could be doing.”
