Qualification overview

This qualification is designed to offer theory and practical study in Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing. You will gain communication and self-confidence skills, study cutting, blow-drying, setting, braiding, finger waving, highlighting and global colouring techniques, long hair styling and permanent waving. Graduates from this programme will be able to continue into a hairdressing apprenticeship in a salon at the same level as a Year 2 apprentice.

Entry requirements

  • NCEA Level 1 and at least 30 level 2 credits, and/or
  • Equivalent NZQF Unit Standards.
  • Students who do not meet the above entry criteria may be considered entry into the programme (subject to availability) by attending an interview ad providing evidence to support the likelihood of successful completion of the programme.
