This qualification incorporates a range of courses which build upon knowledge and skills that the student already has, in familiar contexts, such as sporting environments and marae. It provides pathways to further study such as basic knowledge of physical health and fitness as well as life skills, including communication, numeracy, Maori performing arts and Te Reo Maori. The qualification aims to encourage students into further study and employment options. Students may gain the qualification Pokaitahi Mana Tangata (Empowering People) Level 2. Students may also gain the National Certificate in Fitness (Foundation Skills) Level 2, National Certificate in Educational Achievement (Levels 1 and 2).
The rugby league component of the qualification will provide students with incentives to participate fully and successfully complete the qualification.
