Qualification overview

This qualifcation aims to give students the first year of three Diplomas - The National Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. Graduates from this programme will be equipped, under supervision, to act as Construction Technicians on small and medium scale building projects. The skills and knowledge that the graduate will possess includes processing projects from first client contact, research and preliminary design documentation, working drawings, tender, contract and construction through to completion.

Entry requirements

  • 35 or more credits at NCEA Level 2, with no fewer than 12 credits in each of two subjects; and a minimum of 12 credits from Level 1 mathematics and 8 credits from Level 2 mathematics
  • Equivalent NZQF Unit Standards
  • Applications will also be considered from people with other academic qualifications or industry-related experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes will be an advantage.
