Qualification overview

This is the final year of a two-year qualification that is designed to offer theory and practical study in Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing Unit Standards. You will study cutting, blow-drying, setting, braiding, finger waving and advanced colouring techniques. Graduates from this programme will be able to begin a hairdressing apprenticeship in a salon at the same level as a year 3 (Level 4) apprentice.

Certificate in Hairdressing Skills - all year one students will complete the Certificate in Hairdressing Skills before progressing to year two.

Entry requirements

  • 48 or more credits at NCEA Level 1, whish includes NCEA Level 1 requirements for Literacy and Numeracy, with the remainder of the credits being across any four subjects; and/or
  • Equivalent NZQF Unit Standards.

Further study options

Graduates can undertake further study towards WITT's Cedrtificate in Beauty Therapy, or any of WITT's diplomas or degrees.
