Qualification overview

This qualification aims to provide first line managers (team leaders, supervisors) with further knowledge in order to effectively carry out their role. You will be able to study managing change in the workplace, organising training and development activities for a workplace team, team building, systems and resource management and leading a team.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of four years of secondary education; and
  • 48 or more credits at NCEA Level 2, with no fewer than 12 credits in English and the remaining across three other subjets; and

Access/supervision

  • Students will require access to a workplace team and be expected to adopt a leadership role within this team
  • It is expected that the student would have a minimum of three years work experience
  • Students must have access to a workplace supervisor/manager who is willing to assist them with workplace activities and assessments

Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme if they are able to demonstrate:

  • Equivalent knowledge and skills such as other formal or information qualifications; and/or
  • Previous and relevant life skills or work experience; and/or
  • Other formal or informal study such as to suggest likelihood of successful programme completion.
