Qualification overview

This qualification gives you a good understanding of business and accounting concepts and practices for entry into the accounting industry. You will study a range of topics including basic accounting principles and practice, financial and management accounting, commercial law and computing concepts. A number of elective courses are offered to meet your individual needs.

Entry requirements

  • 14 or more credits at Level 1 or higher in Numeracy or Pangarau on the NZQF and
  • 50 credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of 3 subjects including a minimum of 8 Literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in Reading and 4 credits must be in Writing. The Literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of NZQA approved Achievement Standards and Unit Standards. 
  • Students who do not meet the above criteria may be admitted to the programme if they can demonstrate equivalent skills and/or other study.
