| PROGRAMME OVERVIEW |

The Bachelor of Nursing aims to equip you with the necessary knowledge base, practical skills and attitudes to work safely, effectively and productively with clients within a health care setting. You will learn the value of optimising the physical, mental and social wellbeing of people and their communities, promoting balanced lifestyles, and supporting people to realise their full potential.
On successful completion of the WITT Bachelor of Nursing degree, students are supported through the process of registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
|
|
|
| Applicants must meet entry criteria as approved by WITT's Academic Board. As students will be undertakingpractice in a variety of clinical placements, admission is subject to consideration of: |

Academic Requirements
|
|
|
| The Head of School of Nursing may request additional information. |
- A minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 or higher on the NQF, including a minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects from an approved NQF subject list; the remaining 14 credits at Level 3 or higher to be taken from no more than two additional domains on the NQF or from the approved subject list; and
- A minimum of 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in mathematics on the NQF; and
- A minimum of 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English: 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of NQF approved achievement standards and unit standards; and
- A minimum total of 12 credits at NCEA Level 2 or higher from these subjects: biology, chemistry, physics, science or physical education (with a maximum of 4 credits in total from physical education).

- Equivalent academic achievement as specified at http://www.nzqa.govt . nz/ncea/ue/index.html.
Or:
Applicants who are over 20 years of age who do not meet the academic entry criteria in accordance with the University Entrance Standard (NZQA) can be considered for entry to the Bachelor of Nursing if they are able to demonstrate an ability to undertake the degree programme with a reasonable likelihood of success. This may require applicants to complete an approved programme of study such as the Te Arawhata Matauranga Tapa Wha or undertake challenge testing as determined by the Bachelor of Nursing selection Committee.

| All applicants interested in nursing should apply for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing in the first instance. The WITT School of Nursing will contact you to confirm you meet the academic entry criteria for the Bachelor of Nursing or to assist you in designing your study pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing. |
