Assistance for Controlled Assessment

Assistance for controlled assessments (exams and tests) is available on request through the Learning Skills tutors or Disability Co-ordinator. Conditions apply.

The Cafeteria

A large, modern and popular cafeteria with indoor and outdoor eating areas is located on the ground floor of B block on the Bell St campus. The food is tasty, healthy, nutritious and reasonably priced. The cafeteria is open from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday - Thursday and 7.30am - 3.00pm on Fridays.
Vending machines providing a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks are available when the Bell Street cafeteria is closed.

Chaplaincy

A chaplain is available to all students and staff providing a confidential, neutral listening ear, support in times of illness, confusion, bereavement and a point of contact for anyone wanting to explore issues related to faith or spirituality. The chaplain can be found in the Health and Wellness Centre, B Block.

Childcare

Polytots is a licensed Early Learning Centre on the WITT Bell Street campus. It offers affordable rates and subsidies, a stimulating, safe and caring environment staffed by trained and experienced teachers. There is a full educational programme based on Te Whariki - The Early Childhood Curriculum.
Every child is afforded dignity and given positive guidance using praise and encouragement. Staff/child ratios are 1:4 for under 2 year olds and 1:6 for over 2 year olds. Polytots is open from 7.45 am-5.15 pm Monday to Friday and caters for children aged from birth to 5 years. Places are limited so please book early. Information on fees and subsidies are available from Polytots at 5 Cracroft Street or phone 06 757 3251.

Counselling Services

Counselling is available to all students. This is a free confidential service that provides a place to talk through past life events, current problems, relationship issues, concerns with alcohol, drugs, anger and related difficulties. The counsellor is located at the Health and Wellness Centre, B Block.

Disability Support Service

This service provides a range of supports and services to disabled students on campus including enrolment assistance, specialist equipment and furniture, support staff, car parking, alternative formatting of text, exam accommodations, information and advocacy. The Disability Co-ordinator can be found at the Learning Centre, L Block.

Doctor

A doctor is available on the Bell St campus at certain times during the week at affordable rates. Contact the Health and Wellness Centre for appointments.

English Second Language Learning Support

Learning assistance is available for students for whom English is not their first language. The ESOL tutor is located at the Learning Centre.

Health Clinic

The Health Clinic offers a wide range of free health services including treatment, health screening and education. The clinic operates on the Bell St campus, Health and Wellness Centre, B Block, Monday - Friday.

International Student Support

A range of additional support services are available if you are from a non-English speaking background.  These services include:

  • Home-stay accommodation
  • Renting houses
  • Pastoral support
  • Learning support
  • Cultural and personal support
  • Holiday and leisure planning
  • Help with course applications and enrolments, permits and visas, medical or health insurance and travel arrangements
  • A full-time Chinese speaking staff member is available at the Bell Street campus to offer you personal and academic support.

The International Students' Office is located at The Registry, 120 Bell St.

Learning Support

The Learning Skills tutors are available to assist students in small groups or on a 1-1 basis to improve their study skills. This includes mature students who are returning to study, those who wish to improve their marks and those requiring catch-up skills for Maths. The learning skills tutors can be found at the Learning Centre L Block.
