As soon as the 2012 academic year at WITT finished, work started on improving the campus.
Work both inside and outside has given the whole campus a lift and returning students will notice the difference, says facilities manager Charlotte Dunning.
The first job to be finished was on the increasingly popular WITT crèche.
“Access and bathroom facilities for people with disabilities have been greatly improved,’’ says Charlotte.
A roof was put over the deck, with the outside having plastic protection put in to guard against the elements, effectively extending the crèche area and giving it a more roomy inside-outside flow.
The crèche has been operating again since January 21 and this year it will be open to the community as well as the children of WITT staff and students.
Other work being completed this week, ready for the March 4 start to the new academic year, include the refurbishment of classrooms at the top of B Block; The upgrade of A block for the technology staff; the upgrade of K and M blocks, and the landscaping between E and F blocks completed.
There are other, more subtle changes around the campus, with new chairs in the student café just one of many.
