Polytots is for everyone

The Polytots Centre at WITT may well be one of New Plymouth’s best-kept secrets.

Manager Melissa Crow is doing her best to change that and in the beginning of the month, announced changes to make the centre even more family friendly.

“As we’re starting a new year, we want to make ourselves available to not only WITT staff and students, but also the community – especially working families.

“In order to do that we’ve increased our opening hours and now won’t be closing until 5.30pm, to cater for those working mums and dads  who need a bit of time to pick up their children after work.’’

That’s not the only move designed to make childcare easier for working couples.  “We’re going to be open for 12 months of the year,’’ Melissa said.

“That will no doubt be more appealing to working families.’’

Melissa also pointed out that the location of the Polytots Centre, on Cracroft Street, just off Coronation Avenue would be ideal for many workers heading into the city centre.

“We’re a perfect drop off point for them on their way in and a perfect pick up point on their way home,’’ said Melissa.

“We’ve got our amazing outdoor play area which was finished in January last year and it enables us to still keep our small group size.’’

The centre is licensed for 31 children aged between two and five, and there are still places available.
